Today I was informed that 1 member of our school community tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was on campus while infectious. This letter serves as general notification of a confirmed case on campus.
At this time, Frisco ISD staff are not conducting close contact reviews and we are unable to determine if any individual staff member or student was in close contact with the person who tested positive. As a result, we will not be able to share any information with you regarding this case beyond what is contained in this letter.
You may wish to monitor your student for symptoms of COVID-19, which can appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms may include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Not all cases have symptoms.
While your student is not required to quarantine, if you choose to keep your student home as a result of this notification, please contact our attendance clerk, Jennifer Whiffen at whiffenj@friscoisd.org so that we may note the absences and make arrangements for your student to keep up with his or her work.
Parents are required to report to the District when their student has tested positive for COVID-19, and staff are also required to report when they have tested positive for COVID-19. Consistent with District guidelines, we will notify you whenever we learn of a positive case on our campus if the individual was on campus while infectious. Students and staff with a confirmed case of COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days after symptom onset or after their positive test.
